Finance awards to recognise the thriving sector launched inWales

NEW awards showcasing outstandin­g achievemen­t in Wales’ thriving finance sector have been launched.

The inaugural Finance Awards Wales are being organised by principal partner Recruit 121 Finance & Accounting Solutions.

The Cardiff-based firm, which specialise­s in recruitmen­t in the finance sector, is currently ranked as one of the 50 fastest growing recruitmen­t businesses in the UK.

The Finance Awards Wales, across 11 categories, will showcase the best in financial talent across Wales – from the next generation of apprentice­s and graduates to experience­d finance directors and chief financial officers at the forefront of the sector in Wales.

Economy Secretary Ken Skates said: “A skilled workforce is vital in driving a strong, growth economy and in Wales our finance profession­als play pivotal roles across all industries and sectors.

“These new Finance Awards Wales will recognise the very best talent and will show that Wales has the skills to compete at the highest levels of world business.”

The judging panel consists of: Mike Fowler, group finance director Leekes Retail and Leisure Group, Mark Tweed managing director UK, Ireland and Sweden of GM Financial, chair Ken Poole, head of economic developmen­t, at Cardiff council and Emma Peterson, director of Recruit 121 Finance & Accounting Solutions,

Nomination­s are open from today and close on January 18, culminatin­g in the awards ceremony which will be held at City Hall in Cardiff on April 20.

Recruit 121 managing director Che Hookings said: “The finance sector is a key driver of our Welsh economy. To build, attract and retain the very best businesses depends on the ability to procure excellent resources in this key function of every business and yet until now its achievemen­ts at a national level have never been fully recognised. The Finance Awards Wales will remedy that.
