More arrests over death of man who went missing
POLICE investigating the death of a man whose body was found almost three weeks after he disappeared believe he may have been assaulted.
South Wales Police also revealed yesterday there have been two new arrests in the investigation into the death of Jamie John Perkins, from Tonyrefail.
Police are continuing to investigate the disappearance of Mr Perkins, who was 41, and say he was last seen alive by a witness in the Gilfach Goch area on October 12.
They have also revealed his body was found on November 1 in an area known locally as Bog Lane in Gilfach Goch.
A force spokeswoman said two local men, aged 38 and 44, were arrested yesterday.
Two people who were previously arrested have been released under investigation.
DCI Gareth Morgan, of the major crime investigation team, said: “We are currently treating this as a murder investigation. The investigation is very much ongoing and we can confirm that when found, Jamie had injuries that suggest he had been assaulted.
“There are a lot of unanswered questions and we really need your help to piece together exactly what happened to Jamie.
“We are keen to hear from anyone with any information, including anyone who may have seen Jamie after October 8 which is the last CCTV sighting.”
A statement issued last week by his uncle Alan on behalf of his father John, said: “Jamie was a loving son who is sorely missed.”
