Old school site is ripe for property build with planning consent in place

-

A FORMER Welsh-language primary school has been put up for sale.

Planning consent has been given for the stone-built Llantrisant Welsh Primary School site to be redeveloped to create eight apartments and two detached houses.

The school and its playground area is being sold by Paul Fosh Auctions at its sale in December.

The property, which is creating strong interest from a range of prospective buyers, has a guide price of more than £285,000.

The school in Llantrisant, which was opened in 1867, closed in 2005.

Sean Roper, of Newport-based Paul Fosh Auctions, who is handling the sale, said: “The former school is in a good location and would be an ideal property for a developer or property speculator to buy.

“I have already shown a number of interested parties around the former school building and grounds.

“The school and grounds have planning permission for the construction of eight residential apartments and two detached houses.

“The former Welsh school is situated in an elevated position within the town and has wonderful views across the adjoining countryside.

“The school building itself appears solid, being mainly of stone construction, and has a traditional layout including a central corridor, classrooms and former amenities. The former playground area surrounds the building.”

It is being sold by an undisclosed local resident who acquired it at auction from Rhondda Cynon Taf Borough Council a few years ago.

The property will be auctioned on December 7 at the Park Inn Hotel in Cardiff.
