How Wales rated
ALEX CUTHBERT
An eventful and mixed bag from the big wing. Roamed as he looked for work, but should have scored after being put through by a move in the opening half, only to be held up over the try-line by opposition scrum-half Vasil Lobzhanidze.
SCOTT WILLIAMS
Had been a surprise when he was originally left out of coach Warren Gatland’s squad for the autumn campaign but didn’t let it affect him, proving he can pass the ball. Trouble was not much came of it.
OWEN WATKIN
It was the recently turned 21-year-old’s first start for Wales and his chance of lining up in midfield against the All Blacks took a knock as he failed to take centre-stage in a midfield that failed to create enough.
HALLAM AMOS
Involved in a battle with Steff Evans to wear No.11 in the showpiece match of the month, against New Zealand, and bagged a try following a counter-attack while having another disallowed for the ball having gone forward.
RHYS PRIESTLAND
Has rediscovered his best form for Bath this season and was rewarded with a recall to the Wales squad. Created the try with a loop and his restarts were on the money, but Gatland’s men failed to create enough.
RHYS WEBB
What a blow it will be when he joins Toulon at the end of the season, bringing an end to his international career. He is such a composed and classy operator, who always seems to have time on the ball. Wales suffered after taking him off early in the second half.
NICKY SMITH
Huffed and puffed from the very first minute to when he was replaced by Wyn Jones in the 55th. Was involved in the loose, making 11 tackles, but Georgia’ opening points came after he was penalised at a scrum.
KRISTIAN DACEY
Made 12 tackles during his 68-minute shift and the line-out went well, but the scrum was under real pressure from the power of the Georgian eight, regularly being penalised.
LEON BROWN
Only recently turned 21, which is a young age for a tight-head prop still learning his trade to be playing Test rugby, and, as feared, came off second best against Montpellier star Mikheil Nariashvili. Was substituted, but was controversially deemed unfit to return after his replacement Tomas Francis was sin-binned.
ADAM BEARD
Seb Davies may have been grabbing the limelight this season, but 21-year-old lock Beard is another bright hope for the future. Tackle count was in double figures but he didn’t really impose himself on proceedings.
CORY HILL
Gave two needless penalties away in the first half to hand Georgia possession and put his team under pressure but got into the game a bit more in the second half, as Wales were put on the back-foot and forced to defend.
DAN LYDIATE
Demolition man Dan hasn’t had much joy when he’s captained Wales but at least he emerged from a disappointing encounter unscathed. Was Wales’ top tackler by a country mile to stake a claim to start against the All Blacks.
SEB DAVIES
Made one vital steal at a line-out deep in the Wales 22 in the opening half, but the experiment of playing him out of position at No.8 was neither a success or a failure.
SAM CROSS
His third start in 15-a-side pro rugby and only lasted until the end of the first half after taking a knock to the ribs. One glaring missed tackle but looked for work. Not helped by Wales appearing to be treating it as a practice match.
