-

THE family of a 13-year-old who died after being hit by a car have remembered him as “ray of sunshine”, and say their “hearts are aching” from his loss.

Christopher Michael Cole was a Year 9 pupil at Llantwit Major Comprehensive.

He died after being hit by a car on Eagle Road, St Athan, at around 6.39pm last Thursday.

Christopher, known as “Worzel” to his family and friends, was the son of Shane and Cherrey Cole and brother of Owien and Gypsy.

Paying tribute to Christopher, his family said: “He was entertainment in a little boy, he had a wonderful ability to lighten the atmosphere whatever the situation might be.

“Christopher was a real ‘tech-geek’ and loved gaming and socialising with his friends online.

“Christopher was a delightful, intelligent, well-mannered, kind and polite young man who loved his family so much.

“He was a genuine ray of sunshine for each one of them and will be greatly missed. We are absolutely devastated by the suddenness of the way in which Christopher has been taken from us and our hearts are aching.”

In a statement released yesterday, his family also thanked the community for its support following Christopher’s tragic death.

They said: “We have been very touched and totally overwhelmed by the many expressions of love and concern which have been communicated to us by our family and friends and from Christopher’s school and gaming friends.”

The family have asked that their privacy be respected at this time so that they can come to terms with their loss.

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the incident, which happened at around 6.39pm at the junction of Eglwys Brewis Road and Eagle Road.

Any witnesses should call them on 101 quoting reference number 1700451694.
