Flynn left frustrated by County

-

NEWPORT County manager Mike Flynn has admitted that he was again left feeling frustrated after seeing his side concede more late goals in the 2-1 defeat to Barnet at Rodney Parade.

Ben White gave Newport the lead, but the visitors responded well and turned the contest on it’s head in the final few minutes.

Substitute Jamal CampbellRyce was found in space on the left-hand side after several passing phases and picked out an inch-perfect cross for John Akinde to head home the equaliser with two minutes to go and in stoppage time, Shaquile Coulthirst scored the winner .

Flynn said: “I don’t think we were good enough really tonight anyway but again we’ve gone and blown a lead in the last 10 minutes.

“We shot ourselves in the foot because if the players start to not listen to you in certain situations then you are going to get punished. That’s what happened tonight.

“We knew what to expect tonight and we didn’t really rise to it. Free headers in the box, it was terrible.

“If you’d have seen my teamtalk before the game, a few points were highlighted – game management and stop crosses. We didn’t do any of them really.”

Meanwhile County have announced that Paul Molesworth has been appointed as the club’s chief scout.

Molesworth spent 12 years at Liverpool, acting as their head scout for the Midlands where he gained a vast amount of experience, before taking up similar roles at Swansea City, Mansfield Town, Swindon Town and Burton Albion.

In addition, he was also involved in several League Two promotion-winning sides including Luton Town, Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers, which saw him work alongside the club’s current management consultant Lennie Lawrence.
