FAW to investigate Rhyl brawl with Leeds

-

FAW chiefs will launch a probe into shameful scenes as a friendly between Rhyl FC and Leeds United Under-23s was abandoned in the second half after a brawl between the two sets of players.

Players from both sides clashed following bad reactions to a late tackle by Leeds’ Bryce Hossanah.

The game at Rhyl’s Corbett Sports Stadium came to an early halt after Leeds coach Carlos Corberan withdrew his players from the field.

Fans at the match vented their rage about the incident on social media, with one spectator claiming that some supporters had ran onto the field and joined in the scuffle.

Corberan told the Sun: “We are always going to represent Leeds United with the correct behaviours and values.

“[I am] proud of my players today in the way they conducted themselves.”

Rhyl will now hold an investigation into the shameful scenes.

A statement on Rhyl’s official website read: “Following the abandonment of the Friendly match between Rhyl FC and a Leeds United XI this evening (21 November) the club will now launch an internal investigation into the incidents which resulted in the match being halted during the second half.

“The club will issue no further statement until the completion of this work.”

Concerned FAW bosses are bound to launch their own investigation into the matter.
