Mesa set for return to Spain?

-

have gone for last year when he wasn’t dragged down by the disappointment of what we have seen so far.

His record this season is poor, as bad – or worse – as others who have had no such sympathy when it comes to the call from the chairman’s office. One difference has been that there are no whispers of training ground discontent, no serious concerns about fitness and shambolic behind-the-scenes setups, no talk of dressing rooms being lost.

At times of such trouble on the pitch, you rarely have to wait long to some from within piling the pressure on. Not so here, quite the opposite.

So it does give some credence to the thought that, if a slide can be stopped and the negativity pushed away, it wouldn’t take too much to push on to January where some of the squad weaknesses can be addressed.

A win is needed to start towards that, though even a performance that offers more would be a welcome opening.

Perhaps all this is based on hope rather than faith, but Clement needs to show he is worthy of both as quickly as possible, to be the manager enough at Swansea still believe he can be.

When he was appointed, after the troubles around the previous two incumbents, it felt as though Swansea were pressing the reset button.

Now Clement needs to do the same. SWANSEA City’s Roque Mesa is keen on a move back to Spain this January, according to reports in his homeland.

Marca state Mesa sees “with good eyes” the benefit of a loan return to La Liga when the window opens in the new year.

The publication say that Malaga are keen on his services.

Marca go as far as stating that talks have already taken place between the club and Mesa’s agent. The 28-year-old has failed to make an impression at Swansea since his £11m arrival from Las Palmas in the summer.

He has featured just six times for manager Paul Clement – and only three times in the Premier League.

Former club Las Palmas’ fans were keen on bringing the midfielder back to the Spanish island club, but the player said last month: “I am grateful that the fans of Las Palmas want me to return.

“When you win, you do not remember one (who has left), but you do when you have lost.

“My time in Las Palmas is over and now I support the team from here.” But Marca seem to believe that a temporary return to Spain is a real possibility.
