Clement: We need to add more up top

-

SWANSEA City boss Paul Clement admits his side are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements in the January transfer window, but says Liverpool youngster Dominic Solanke is not currently on their radar.

Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea saw the Swans fail to register a single shot on target for the fourth game of the season, while an overall tally of just seven goals – the lowest in the Premier League – has only heightened calls for more bite in the final third.

And, with the January transfer window coming up, Clement admits he is in the market for players capable of strengthening his team’s attacking potency.

Commenting on his side’s potential January transfer targets ahead of this weekend’s trip to Stoke City, Clement said: “When you see our goal record we have to strengthen in forward areas.

“How many players that will be I don’t know, but the work is going on.

“We want targets who are really good, but are realistic targets. Players that bring more talent, but are realistic.

“It is difficult to put a number on it, but one or two in forward positions would help.”

One man that has been named as possibility for the Swans is Liverpool striker Solanke, who was largely impressive in his first Premier League start in midweek, which ironically came against Stoke.

However, Clement says the youngster is not currently a name on his winter shopping list.

When asked about the 20-yearold, Clement said: “He’s a really good player but not one Liverpool would want to let go, I think. He is not a name we have discussed.”
