Ultimate Range Rover is revealed
THE most luxurious – and expensive – Range Rover to date has been unveiled by Land Rover ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show in America.
Priced for £167,580 the new Range Rover SVAutobiography comes with a choice of three engines – a V8 diesel, a V8 supercharged petrol and a plug-in hybrid set up with a petrol/electric powertrain.
All three are long wheelbase models with prices topping out at £177,030 for the supercharged model and £168,015 for the PHEV.
Land Rover claims the hybrid Range Rover will have a pure electric range of up to 31 miles with its electric motor mated to 2.0-litre petrol engine developing a combined power output of 404bhp.
Unveiled on the eve of the LA show the new models will be on the road early in 2018.
The latest Range Rover flagship features first class appointments with limousinelike rear legroom of 1.2 metres plus reclining seats in the back as well as massaging seats and heated leg and foot rests.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s chief design officer, said: “The Range Rover SVAutobiography is the epitome of luxury, comfort and refinement.
“Our standard-bearer for quality and precision exemplifies the attention to detail and sophistication that has been a hallmark of our most luxurious SUV stretching back almost 50 years.”
The Range Rover SVAutobiography will be hand-finished exclusively at the JLR SVO Technical Centre in Warwickshire and is making its debut in America alongside the latest ‘hard core’ Discovery SVX and the Range Rover Sport SVR as well as the standard wheelbase SVAutobiography Dynamic model.
Other new features on the new Range Rover include rear doors that can be closed at the touch of a button, 4G Wi-Fi connectivity and a concealed refrigerator between the twin rear seats that can hold two wine bottles or four 600ml bottles.
The right-hand rear seat folds to accommodate long items and customers can also specify a power deployable veneered boot floor which slides to make loading and unloading luggage easier.
Electrically deployable rear tables are also fitted as are two 10-inch screens in the back complimenting the new-look Touch Pro Duo infotainment system in the front of the car which has twin high-definition touchscreen allowing information to be swiped from one screen to the other.
