Man faces court over mum’s M4 death

-

A MAN will appear in court later this month charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a three-car crash which killed a woman just weeks before she was due to give birth.

Charity worker Rebecca Evans, 27, was eight months pregnant when she died in the incident on the M4 near Port Talbot on November 29 last year.

Her two-year-old son, Cian, was seriously hurt and husband Alex was also in the car.

The couple were on their way to work at the Swansea offices of charity for the homeless Shelter Cymru when they were involved in the collision.

They were originally from Carmarthenshire, but lived in Bridgend.

Colleagues from both Shelter Cymru and RAS Security, where Mr Evans had work as a doorman, raised thousands of pounds for the family following the incident.

Shelter Cymru’s head of campaigns Michelle Wales was among those to pay tribute to her colleague, describing Ms Evans as passionate and committed to helping young people facing homelessness.

South Wales Police said the incident involved a BMW, a Peugeot and an Audi, and took place on the westbound carriage of the M4, between junctions 38 and 39, at 8.20am on the Tuesday morning, November 29.

A spokesman for the force added: “Craig John Scott, 51, from Heath, Cardiff, was charged on October 25 with causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.”

He will appear at Swansea Crown Court on Friday, December 22.
