Swansea linked with Czech defender Boril

-

SWANSEA City are reportedly interested in signing Slavia Prague right-back Jan Boril.

The Swans are thought to be keen on bolstering their full-back options in the January transfer window, with Martin Olsson’s absence earlier this season forcing Paul Clement into a major defensive shake-up, while veteran Angel Rangel provides the only competition to current first-choice right-back Kyle Naughton.

And comments made by football agent Dalibor Lacina – the former agent of Wilfried Bony – in the Czech media suggest the Swans will turn to Boril to ease their defensive worries.

Lacina – who compares the defender to Manchester United legend Gary Neville – said: “He was interested in Galatasaray in the summer. But Slavia did not release him at the time, with no compensation.

“Swansea are looking for a right -sided defender. When they ask me about Boril, I say that his game play reminds me of Gary Neville.”

The 26-year-old started his professional career with Mlada Boleslav before joining Czech First League giants Slavia Prague in 2016 via a loan spell with Viktoria Zizkov.

He has played 15 times in all competitions for the club so far this season and featured in Czech Republic’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Germany and Azerbaijan.

Barnsley’s Andy Yiadom came close to sealing a move to the Liberty Stadium in the summer and may well be a target again, but Boril may well be seen as better value for money.
