Have-a-go heroes chase man in cashpoint robbery drama

-

TWO have-a-go heroes chased a suspected robber before catching him and returning the cash he allegedly stole from a pensioner.

But the suspected robber – who police believe watched his alleged victim as she withdrew the money from a cashpoint – broke free and is though to have targeted another woman at the same ATM shortly after.

According to a South Wales Police spokesman, at around 5.15pm on Friday a woman, believed to be aged around 70, withdrew money from a Lloyds Bank cash point in Oxford Street, Swansea.

Officers believe a man had been watching her and then allegedly stole the cash before making off down the street. Two other men, who had witnessed the incident, pursued the suspect and were able to catch him. They retrieved the woman’s money but the suspect was able to escape. Shortly afterwards the same man is believed to have targeted another person at the same cashpoint.

Police confirmed a man has been arrested in relation to this second incident.

Police now want to speak to the alleged victim of the first incident, who has not yet reported her ordeal. Police also want to speak to a male witness who assisted the woman and anyone else who may have witnessed either incident.
