2017’s MOST EXPENSIVE WELSH HOMES

These are the most expensive homes sold in Wales this year. The informatio­n comes from Land Registry data dated to October. With the remaining months’ data yet to be released, Claire Miller and Victoria Jones discover the most expensive property was sold for £3,150,000 in May – a detached home in Lisvane, Cardiff

Lisvane, Cardiff: £3.15m This detached house sold for £3,150,000 on May 2. The listing says it’s an “extraordin­ary home of considerab­le style and quality, constructe­d in the owners’ vision of their perfect home, drawing upon influences from their extensive travels”.

It has the essence of a Welsh longhouse but features influences which are Mediterran­ean, California­n, North African and Asian. It boasts gardens with fountains, a “resort quality” outdoor pool with hot tub, sauna and showers, three-hole golf course and a tennis court.

Abersoch, Gwynedd: £1.45m The house has spectacula­r views over Harbour Beach. Set mainly on one floor, the open-plan living space has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a large main reception room.

It has a private terrace – and there’s even a nearby 18-hole golf course.

Lisvane, Cardiff: £1.32m A grand and imposing Edwardian residence set in mature grounds of about three-quarters of an acre at the end of a private tree-lined drive. It has seven bedrooms, a dressing-room, detached gym and shower room and a bar.

Penarth: £1.3m This five-bedroom house in Penarth has views across Penarth Marina.

Abersoch: £1.27m This home stands in a secluded and elevated setting only 500 metres from the centre of the village and 350 metres from the beach.

Penarth: £1.13m It is described as a modern detached property in a prime location with spectacula­r sea views over the Bristol Channel.

It has four bedrooms, and an ensuite and balcony off the master bedroom.

Roath Park, Cardiff: £915,000 The property near Roath Park has five bedrooms and the home overlooks the park from its elevated position.
