THE distraught family of an eight-year-old boy killed after a car crashed into a tree have paid tribute to their “beautiful cheeky chap”.

In a heart-rending statement, Jenson Evans’ family said: “There are no words great enough to describe our love for you and the loss we feel... We will miss those night time cwtches and your kiss before bed... we will miss you forever.”

He was travelling in a blue Seat car with his family when the crash happened at around 5.45pm on Thursday on an unnamed forestry road near Talbot Green, Rhondda Cynon Taf. Jenson’s parents and younger brother have been released from hospital but his elder brother remained there yesterday.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses.

THE heartbroken family of an eight-year-old boy who died after a car crashed into a tree have remembered him as their “beautiful cheeky chap”.

Jenson Evans died when a blue Seat car crashed into a tree at around 5.45pm on Thursday.

The crash happened on an unnamed road near Talbot Green known locally as the Smilog Forestry Road, which runs from Pontyclun to Coed Ely.

Jenson was in the car with his family at the time of the crash.

His parents and younger brother have since been released from hospital but his elder brother remains there.

In a moving tribute released through South Wales Police yesterday, Jenson’s family said: “Our beautiful cheeky chap Jenson, so sweet, loving and placid. There are no words great enough to describe our love for you and the loss we feel, never happier than outdoors playing and usually covered in mud from playing football, you were football mad.

“We will miss those night-time cwtches and your kiss before bed.

“An amazing son, brother, grandson and great grandson, cousin, nephew and friend we will miss you forever.”

A number of fundraising pages have been set up by friends of Jenson’s family to help them.

One set up by Lisa Bruford had already received more than £6,400 in donations by yesterday evening.

Many tributes have been left by people on Facebook who offered their prayers to the family.

Sharon Doggett wrote: “No words can said or even imagine what the family are going through at this sad time, deepest thoughts and prayers go out to the family RIP little man, fly high.”

Alison Lewis wrote: “My heart is breaking for the family, so so sad can’t stop crying. Lots of love sending to all his family words are just not enough RIP Jenson my sweet angel.”

Dione O’Brien wrote: “So sad. Thoughts are with his family. We travelled along that road yesterday and it was extremely icy. RIP.”

The crash happened in a secluded area surrounded by trees, stumps and greenery.

Officers from South Wales Police were at the scene on yesterday morning picking up debris from the crash.

While the road – which is on an incline – was wet with water flowing downhill yesterday, there were still some icy patches near where the crash happened.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: “We would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision or who stopped to provide assistance, or anyone who may have seen the blue Seat Altea being driven prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details, or who travelled the road at around that time.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact the South Wales Police Roads Policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting Occurrence 1700504610.”
