Let The Band take you back to 1992

The Band, Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff

-

THE fastest-selling musical theatre tour of all time, The Band, is coming to Cardiff. Running from Tuesday, January, 9 until Saturday, January, 20, the British musical will be performed at the Wales Millennium Centre.

Featuring music from hugely successful boyband Take That, the play was written by Tim Firth, most famous for his work on the cinematic hit, Calendar Girls, as well as Kinky Boots.

The story travels the audience back to 1992 where we meet five 16-year-old girls for who ‘the band’ is everything.

The audience will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster as this group of girls who were once inseparable reunite after 25 years apart and try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting the boyband whose music became the soundtrack to their lives.

Songs in the show include Never Forget, Back for Good, A million Love Songs, Greatest Day, The Flood, Relight My Fire, Shine & Rule the World, although the actual band do not appear in the show.

Instead it stars AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Solomon – otherwise known as Five to Five, the winners from the BBC’s Let it Shine, a talent show which sought to find the talent for the big hit musical.

They are joined onstage with a live band and a cast of 16, who present this hugely anticipated production created by the team behind the magnificent Take That live concerts.

Ticket costs range from £19.50 to £49,50, including matinee performances which start at 2.30pm, and evening performances at 7.30pm.

Rated five stars by The Sun and Sunday Mirror, the latter explained: “It will have you in fits of laughter and fighting back tears but ultimately dancing in the aisles”.

Nicole Sherzinger also applauded the production, saying: “I adored it. I laughed and cried”.
