AlunWyn Jones is getting set to be a father for the second time

-

WALES rugby captain Alun Wyn Jones is to be a father for the second time.

Jones made the public announcement on social media, posting a picture of his wife, Anwen Jones, with her baby bump as the couple enjoyed a winter walk on a Welsh beach.

The couple had their first child, Mali, in the summer of 2015, with Jones admitting fatherhood had changed him and made him “more human”.

Friends and rugby fans were quick to congratulate the couple, but it is not known exactly when their second child is due.

Jones is set to lead Wales into Six Nations battle next month, with Warren Gatland announcing his squad on Tuesday.

Dr Jones is a Welshmedium physiology and health lecturer at Cardiff’s Metropolitan University and has also done some television work, co-hosting the DNA Cymru show on S4C with Jason Mohammad and Beti George.

Speaking last year about becoming a father, Ospreys skipper Jones said: “It changes your perception of everything – sometimes I’ll reflect that I’ve been stern with the people I work with.

“It makes a lot of things less important and other things more important. I’m making a conscious effort to be less cynical and try to enjoy rugby more. She’s made me more human. When you’re younger, when you’re not married and don’t have a child, you just crack on, but now I have a family I think I could have enjoyed it a little bit more.

“I don’t regret the way I approached things, because otherwise I wouldn’t have achieved what I did, but when I look back I could have enjoyed things more.

“I’ve got to make the most of it and enjoy as many firsts with the little one as I can for now.”
