Morgan set to give Dragons a boost

-

WALES international centre Tyler Morgan is set to make his comeback from injury in the Dragons’ Anglo-Welsh Cup clash with Worcester Warriors at Rodney Parade tonight (7.30pm).

Morgan hasn’t played since suffering an ankle injury against the Ospreys prior to the autumn Test series and is named among the replacements for the pool finale. Head coach Bernard Jackman has made eight changes to the team beaten by Saracens last time out.

Speedster Ashton Hewitt is named in an unfamiliar position of full-back, while recent arrival Jarryd Sage comes into midfield.

Former Ospreys tight-head Dan Suter has recovered from a pre-season Achilles injury and is included on the bench.

All four regions play tonight, looking to finish a testing cup campaign on a high.

Wales cap Sam Cross will make his first appearance since the autumn series when he starts at No.8 for the Ospreys in their clash with Bath at the Liberty (7.30pm).

Elsewhere, Kiwi Kieron Fonotia comes into midfield, Rhodri Jones starts at loose-head prop, while wing Dewi Cross makes his first start for the region.

Flanker Olly Robinson skippers Cardiff Blues against London Irish (7.45pm) and is one of nine changes to the side following the loss at Leicester last weekend.

Seven of those come up front with Wales internationals Josh Turnbull and Seb Davies bolstering the pack.

Wing Ryan Edwards, who joined from Bristol on a shortterm loan deal this week, makes his debut out wide.

There is also a return for Dan Fish, who has recovered from an arm injury to take his place among the replacements.

London Irish include Springbok second row Franco van der Merwe, who was due to sign for the Blues at the start of this season from Ulster only for the Arms Park side to pull the plug on the move.

With the likes of Ryan Conbeer, Corey Baldwin and Dan Davies on Wales Under-20s duty, the winless Scarlets make a further 10 changes for the visit of Sale Sharks (7.05pm).

Tom Williams is the only surviving member of the back division that started the 35-7 loss to Harlequins, while up front there is a first start for experienced Dragons prop Phil Price, who has linked up with the region on a short-term loan.

No.8 Jack Condy again skippers a side that includes three-times capped Wales hooker Emyr Phillips.
