Fatboy Slim brings the love to festival

AONE-DAY live music festival is coming to Cardiff this year and Fatboy Slim will be headlining the event.

The festival, which celebrates electronic music, will take place in Pontcanna Fields in the summer.

Promising a combination of world class musicians and DJs, the new event which is called It’s a Love Thing, will also be offering street food and entertainment to 18,000 people.

Taking place on Saturday, June 9, Brit award winner Fatboy Slim is set to be joined by a whole host of other, yet-tobe-announced, performers and bands will be playing across three separate stages.

One stage is being created by Arcadia - the performance art collective famous for their incredible stages at Glastonbury festival that combine elements of sculpture, architecture, recycling, pyrotechnics, lighting, circus and music into large scale performance and dance spaces.

The event is the result of a new business partnership between the organisers of Bristol-based festival ‘Love Saves The Day’ - now in its seventh year - and The Depot warehouse venue in Cardiff.

Tom Paine, of Loves Saves The Day, added: “We’re really excited to have secured Fatboy Slim in our first year of It’s A Love Thing, and to bring the Arcadia Afterburner stage to Wales for the first ever time.

“We’re positive it’s going to be a hugely popular event, so we’re urging anyone who is interested to pre-register so we can keep them up to date as more acts are announced.”

The Depot will also be creating a street-food village at the new festival, with details on the food pop-ups attending to be revealed at a later date.

“Since opening in 2014, the focus for The Depot has been on running really creative and interesting events and bringing something a bit different to Cardiff,” said founder of The Depot, Nick Saunders.

“People have really embraced this, which is why we thought this city would be the ideal location for a new festival of this magnitude.”

Pre-registration for tickets opens today via the It’s a Love Thing website – subscribe to find out details on ticket prices and performers over the coming weeks. Tickets will go on general sale on Thursday, February 8. Go to the It’s a Love Thing website for more information.
