Masked raider left mum terrified

-

A MOTHER has been left terrified after a man wearing what she believes was a “monkey mask” broke into her house while her twin babies slept upstairs.

The brazen thief even turned on the kitchen lights at Yolanda Kingdon’s house in Barry.

The 30-year-old photographer and make-up artist said she was left “scared” and “angry” following the incident, which happened at around 2.30am on Saturday.

As well as her two-year-old twin babies, Yolanda’s partner Gavin Woodward was also at home and asleep at the time.

“They broke in when me, my partner and babies were all asleep upstairs,” Yolanda said.

“I’m quite shocked we didn’t hear anything, because we’re always up and down with the babies.

“If you look really closely on the CCTV, it looks like he’s holding a weapon in his left hand. It looks like when he’s moving, something is swinging.

“We also thought he might have been wearing earphones, but it could also be a mask. It looks like a monkey mask.

“He’s wearing it and then he brings his right arm up to his face and puts whatever it is back in his pocket.”

Yolanda – who is also mum to a seven-year-old son and eight-yearold daughter who were staying elsewhere at the time – said she is not sure if there were one or two suspects involved.

“I think someone might have climbed in through the small window in our conservatory and opened the door for a second person.”

Yolanda said the back door, which had been locked when they went to sleep, was found wide open following the incident.

Speaking about the CCTV footage, Yolanda said: “He just walked across the road so calmly. He’d obviously already sussed out what he was going to do.”

Yolanda believes around £2,500 worth of property was stolen from her home.

Among items taken were a Fossil smartwatch, an iPhone 6 and a wallet with £300 inside.

“I don’t really care about the watch so much, but the iPad has personal photos on – baby stuff and pregnancy stuff.

“I want them back. They’re memories which mean a lot.”

Yolanda said the whole incident, from the moment the suspect was spotted on CCTV, only took around seven minutes.

“I think the babies must have made a noise and disturbed them.

“Every creak I hear, I’m jumping. It’s just not fair.”
