Carvalhal in the dark over future
CARLOS Carvalhal insists he has not been told whether or not he will be Swansea City manager beyond tomorrow’s game against Stoke City.
It’s understood that the Portuguese will be leaving the club amid widespread reports of his impending departure.
During a difficult 44-minute press conference ahead of this weekend’s relegation clash, he maintained that talks with chairman Huw Jenkins over his future were on hold until after the match.
Carvalhal did reveal that he had spoken to Jenkins this week, but that his head wasn’t in the right place to discuss his position.
Asked if he was disappointed somebody at the club appeared to have been briefing that he was definitely departing, Carvalhal said: “The only person I talk to is the chairman, I spoke to him, but he mentioned nothing to me, so it is not official and it is speculation.
“If the club do a statement or the chairman talks to me and there is a decision, it will be a reality. It is not a reality.
“I have agreed with the chairman to talk at the end of the season, I talked with him today. The situation is exactly the same.
“There has been speculation about me from outside and after the game we will talk, maybe Sunday or Monday.
“Even if we stay or not, because there is still a little percentage that we can stay in the Premier League, the conversations will still happen at the same time. It’s the way that I deal – to ask if the people are happy with me and the work.”
