New deal is offered to Byers

SWANSEA City have moved to tie down one of their most promising young stars after a new deal was offered to Under-23s midfielder George Byers.

Byers was one of the main points of interest as the club yesterday revealed their released and retained list ahead of a busy summer at the Liberty Stadium.

The former Watford man is out of contract this summer but had an outstanding campaign for Swansea’s Under-23 side, scoring 10 goals and setting up a further nine from his attacking midfield role.

Given Swansea’s lack of creative options at first-team level, Byers would appear a man well set for senior involvement in the Championship next term, provided he accepts the offer on the table.

The 21-year-old has been attracting interest from clubs in Scotland.

Five other youngsters were also offered new deals: Aaron Lewis, Kenji Gorre, Jack Evans, Keiran Evans and Botti Biabi.
