Pair join digital consultancy after attending code academy

-

MICA Schiazza and James Morgan Foley have recently joined Cardiff-based digital consultancy firm Mobilise Cloud after receiving training and attending Codez Academy’s Get Into Digital course, in collaboration with the Prince’s Trust.

The course gave Mica and James the opportunity to learn about how to design their own websites using coding skills, including HTML and CSS, two of the core technologies for building webpages. During their time with Codez Academy, they also learned film-making skills.

Mica and James have gone on to become key members of the Mobilise Cloud team, having already developed a voice-based bot system as a pilot for Cardiff Council, as to what can be placed in the city’s recycling bins.

Codez Academy is now looking for new students aged 16-30 for the Get Into Digital Course.

Dean Jenkins founded Codez Academy in 2015 after sharing his coding knowledge with an eightyear-old student. This was after facing his own challenges within education and employment due to a lack of understanding of his dyslexia and dyscalculia.

Past students at Codez Academy have gone on to create geofilters for Snapchat which have been used by the likes of Beyonce, Ed Sheeran and 78.3m others.

Mr Jenkins now plans to open an eco-friendly Creative College to offer an alternative to the traditional education model, where students will be taught both digital skills and to maintain the ecocollege themselves through sustainable methods.

Commenting on the success story Mr Jenkins said: “I am delighted that James and Mica have been able to use the skills they learned with us to succeed and start their career at Mobilise. At Codez, empowering young people to succeed is at the heart of our approach.”
