Cardiff-based law firm Capital Law, which last year celebrated its 10th birthday, has enjoyed a record-breaking 12 months, employing more than 30 new members of staff since last spring.

Established in 2006, Capital provides integrated legal and consultancy services to sectors including education, energy, retail, social housing and the public sector.

The new recruits, more than 20 of whom are lawyers, have largely been recruited within the commercial disputes, commercial property, employment and corporate teams, all of which continue to experience significant growth.

In addition to developing lawyers from the south Wales legal community, key appointments from London and Bristol, returning to south Wales, include Angelina Drjaca-Chandler, who joins the corporate team as senior associate; Liz Gibbons, who joins the commercial property team as a senior associate; and Gareth Williams-Davies, who joins the corporate team as an associate.

Additionally, the firm has bolstered its board with the appointment of private equity specialist and non-executive director David Williams. Previously, Mr Williams was a senior partner at Dunedin Capital and before that at Graphite Capital. He has sat on a number of boards over the years as an investor.

Seven new team members have joined the firm’s IT, marketing, HR and finance teams to further develop the central support functions, including Geraint Peach, previously an IT apprentice, who joined on placement from Cardiff and Vale College and has now been recruited as a full-time IT engineer.

In addition to the litany of new recruits, Capital has also announced a series of promotions. Construction, energy and projects specialist Stuart Pearson is now a senior associate, while Chris Lewis and Alex Christen are now associates in the banking and finance and employment teams respectively.

Speaking about the recent growth, Capital’s HR director Paul Clayton said: “Finding talented people, of character as well as competence, to work with our brilliant clients and support our ambitious growth plans has long been our priority.

“Our organic growth means big opportunities for people to develop at Capital, and it’s great to welcome new recruits at all stages of their career.

“By being ethical in the way we treat our employees, clients and community, we preserve our identity and own way of doing things.

“This attitude has played a key part in affording us the position of one of Wales’ premier law firms in only 11 years – and we’re only going to keep growing.”
