Democracy works, so go with the Brexit flow

Western Mail - - WM2 | VIEWS OF WALES -

THOSE pesky “populists” are at it again. Fancy the Italian electorate having the effrontery to question the “benefits” of the euro. What will they do next?

Isn’t it time the Establishment, the privileged and those who have most to gain realise that although democracy might not always produce the desired result, it is better than other systems that could be mentioned?

Those who thought the referendum was a good idea until the result was not to their liking have done everything in their power to stall, impede and hopefully overturn the 2016 referendum result.

This has not been helped by what appears to be an attempt by the Government to please everyone. In this wicked world, victories are not gained by those who don’t appear to know what they want or think to please everyone. Throwing up

scares like the Irish border adds to the confusion. The Irish are an industrious and pragmatic people. We are their biggest customers. There is absolutely no reason why this relationship should not continue.

Crawling back to Mr Juncker and Co would make us the laughing stock of the world.

We are not poor supplicants, and isn’t it high time the rulers of the EU paid more attention to its cracks and deficiencies than trying to scare and bully this country into compliance? H Thomas Neath
