Owners of hotel set to become its customers

-

A HOTEL has been put up for sale by its owners, who want to spend a bit of time on the other side of the bar.

The Eagles Hotel, situated on the bank of the Afon Conwy in Llanrwst, is on the market with Christie & Co for a cool £1m.

Owners Rupert and Rhonda Stevens bought the hotel five years ago but are now ready to step down, with plans to buy a small house nearby – and enjoy the venue’s hospitality instead of providing it.

Mr Stevens said: “My wife and I bought the Eagles Hotel in April 2013 as a retirement project.

“Since then, we have carried out extensive renovations and repairs to both the inside and outside of the hotel, which include refurbishment of all 15 letting bedrooms, refurbishment of the two bars, restaurant, function room and bar, and complete modernisation of the commercial kitchen.”

He added: “Since we arrived in Llanrwst we have had masses of support from the local community and have made many lifelong friends. However, the time is now right for us to finally enjoy our retirement.

“Moving forward, our intention is to buy a small property in the local area and to enjoy the Eagles as customers!”

Tom O’Malley, senior agent at Christie & Co, said: “Rupert and Rhonda have done an amazing job in restoring the Eagles Hotel to its former glory and it has become the main focal hub of the town.

“With year-on-year increases to income, this is an attractive proposal for an experienced operator. Christie & Co have been involved in a high number of transactions for hospitality sites in north Wales over the last 12 months and there is still a strong demand for these assets.”
