Fam­ily pays trib­ute to crash vic­tim

THE fam­ily of a great-grand­mother who died in a crash in Bryn­mawr have de­scribed her as a “warm and wel­com­ing” lady whose death will leave a “chasm “in their lives.

Pedes­trian Sheila Skuse, 86, died af­ter be­ing hit by a car in the town on Sun­day, June 24.

She was a mother to two chil­dren, a grand­mother to seven, and also had four great-grand­chil­dren.

Her fam­ily said, in a state­ment re­leased through Gwent Po­lice, that she had lived in Blae­navon for many years and had run Skuse’s of­fli­cence with her late hus­band, Stan, .

They added: “Sheila was a warm and wel­com­ing lady with a ready smile for ev­ery­one.

“She had re­cently moved back to her birth­place of Bryn­mawr, where she re­con­nected with old friends and made many new friends as a res­i­dent of Wes­ley House.

“Sheila was deeply loved and her pass­ing has left a chasm in our lives.”

A 29-year-old man from Bryn­mawr was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing but has since been re­leased un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
