Daughter mourns loss of mum who died in crash
THE heartbroken daughter of a “lovely mum” killed after being struck down by a car has paid a loving tribute to her.
Mother-of-four Dorothy Bowater, who lived on Pentre Mawr in Abergele, was killed on Thursday after being hit by a car just around the corner from her home. Police and paramedics were called to Dundonald Avenue in the town at around 6pm, but Mrs Bowater was later pronounced dead.
The road was closed while crash scene investigators established the circumstances surrounding the collision, and reopened by police at around 10.30pm.
Mrs Bowater’s daughter Melanie Perham said: “It is a sudden and awful loss of a lovely mum of two daughters and two sons. She also had family in Australia.
“She lived life to the full and was very stubborn.”
Melanie said the rest of her family, including sister Anita and brothers Neil and Anthony, would be arriving soon in North Wales.
People expressed their shock on social media following the death of Mrs Bowater, who lived in Clwyd Alyn Housing Association accommodation on Pentre Mawr.
One witness at the scene described it as a “horrific experience and such a terrible accident”.
He added: “God bless the lady. Everything was done by passersby and the NHS to save her, but to no avail.”
North Wales Police has appealed for information after the fatal collision. Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information should call police on 101, quoting reference W108427.
