SIR PAUL’S RIVERSIDE RETREAT UP FOR GRABS

-

When this two-bedroom apartment was built during the late 1980s it was just another luxury flat being constructed in Fulham, London, overlooking the Thames.

But then Paul McCartney bought the property, transforming it into another landmark in the Macca story.

He bought it new in 1987 with then wife Linda and when she died in 1998 Paul kept the property as his London pied-a-terre.

It became a favourite of his next wife, Heather Mills, whom he married in 2002 and became hers in 2008 as part of a divorce deal that included £16.5 million in cash, and assets including properties worth £7.8 million.

Mills held on to the apartment for some time and remodelled it to her own tastes. According to the current vendor, this included making the kitchen open-plan. Several of the units still have delivery stickers with her name written on them.

The apartment is within a development designed by architect Richard Rogers to replace derelict warehouses overlooking the Thames River. The site also included an office for his architectural practice and space for his wife’s restaurant, The River Café.

Paul’s old flat has wooden floors throughout and comes with two double bedrooms, a combined reception/dining room and kitchen, two bathrooms and underground parking.

■ It’s for sale with agent John D Wood (020 7731 1487) for £1.25 million.
