EDWARDIAN HOME WILL BOWL YOU OVER

-

Former cricketer and England batsman Mike Gatting, inset, dominated the sport for several decades including a two-year stint as captain of the national side during the 1980s, and as captain of Middlesex for 14 years.

Pugnacious at the crease and not afraid of controversy, Gatting led a tour of South Africa in 1990 that was part of the infamous rebel cricket tours, serving a threeyear England ban for his efforts. Now 61, he remains heavily involved with the sport at a local and national level.

The family home in Enfield, Middlesex is now for sale. It’s an elegant five-bedroom Edwardian detached family home on a road with cricketing connections; the pitch of Enfield Cricket Club can be seen from the upper floors of the property, which is for sale at £1.895 million.

“We adore Enfield, its location and community spirit are unique, so we won’t be moving very far,” says Mike.

“As the children have flown the nest, we are looking to downsize which will hopefully mean more time for some serious spectator cricket.

“The house has been a wonderful place to raise our family from young teenagers to adults saving to move out with partners.

The accommodation is suited to those with older children as the upper floors can make the perfect hideaway for teenagers wanting their own space.”
