All you need to know before tonight’s big match

- Graham Potter:

know they will be we can make it really hard for them.”

They are hard to beat, offer an attacking threat and St Andrew’s is a tough place to go,” said Potter.

“He (Monk) was a huge figure here, he captained the club through those promotions and had success as a manager and improved the team.

“It is nice to see him back in work after the Middlesbrough experience and he is a young talented manager with a very bright future ahead of him.”

What’s the verdict of the opposition?

We spoke to Shane Ireland - a football journalist at the Birmingham Mail - to find out.

It hasn’t gone well in terms of results, what have you made of Birmingham’s start to the season?

“One point from the first two games isn’t ideal but it’s far too early to make any serious judgements yet. They played well against Norwich on the opening day of the season and should have won the game - and but for a 94th minute equaliser, would have done so. Against Middlesbrough last week Blues were outplayed and never looked like taking anything from the match.I think fans aren’t quite sure about what their expectations should be at the moment.

“The transfer embargo and off-field issues have somewhat clouded the feelgood factor that Monk introduced at the back end of last season.

“With those kind of problems that are outside the manager’s control, is just staying up again the aim? Or should Blues be pushing towards mid-table? It’s difficult to judge. Either way, we saw in March to May what Monk can get out of the players.”

Who are the main players to keep an eye on?

Spaniard Jota is always one to look out for on the right wing – he can be really dangerous.
