CARDIFF’S first Summer Feastival street food event launches this weekend. Running across four weekends and with a different line-up each week, Summer Feastival will have a party atmosphere on the Friday and Saturday, while the Sundays will have a more family-friendly feel.

We’ve got all the information you need to eat yourself a great time...

What is Summer Feastival?

Cardiff’s Depot is moving out of its warehouse and into the fresh air as it takes over Sophia Gardens in Cardiff with the big food festival, which has free entry.

Each weekend will feature a changing line-up of different street food traders from across Wales and the South West.

When is it on?

Starting today and running until Sunday, September 9, the festival will be held every Friday evening, all day Saturday and until 8pm on Sunday for four weeks.

Where is it and how do you get there?

The festival will be based next to the Sophia Gardens car park.

The postcode to find the car park is CF11 9JU. If you catch the train into Cardiff to visit, Feastival is about a 10-15-minute walk from both Cardiff Central and Queen Street stations.

Bus-wise, Cardiff Bus numbers 24 and 63 go via Holiday Inn/Cathedral Road stops, which are nearest to Sophia Gardens.

Who’s there on the first weekend?

These are the traders who will be there this weekend...

■ The Pork Society – Inspired pork dishes served from a vintage caravan.

■ Science Cream – Fantastic and fairy-tale ice-cream sundaes made with liquid nitrogen.

■ The Dough Thrower – Traditional Italian sourdough pizza made with the finest flour from Naples. The range of toppings are top class, too.

■ Tukka Tuk – Purple Poppadom’s Anand George takes his skills to the street as the Tukka Tuk serves favourites like Keralan fried chicken and massala fries.

■ Puckin’ Poutine – Chips, gravy and cheese curds. That on its own is pretty lush, but add toppings like Buffalo chicken or Teryaki pork and you’re on to a winner.

■ Meat & Greek – Delicious souvlaki & Greek kebabs – just the smell of this stall is enough to make you not want to go to any other stall.

■ Brother Thai – Brother Thai is an award winning street food pop up, creating classic Bangkok street food dishes, as well as new and inspired creations to experience Thai flavours in a new and exciting way.

■ Keralan Karavan – If you like your food as colourful as a rainbow and tasty as anything, Keralan Karavan is the place to be.

■ Dirty Bird – Southern fried chicken with a real kick.

■ South Street Kitchen – These creative chefs will bring their amazing dishes to Cardiff and let’s hope their crispy squid makes the journey!
