‘Mini-beasts’ on the way to children’s hospice

-

A CHILDREN’S hospice has received new outdoor play equipment.

Tŷ Hafan, based in Sully in the Vale of Glamorgan, was selected to have the new equipment, free of charge, as part of company Playforce’s Nature Month.

The hospice, where most children come for respite care either during the week or at the weekend, received the gift of a mini-beast habitat as part of the company’s commitment to support paediatric palliative care charities in the UK.

Installed outside in the hospice’s outdoor play area, the habitat is designed to help children learn about the outdoor environment through the exploration of creepy crawlies and other mini-beasts.

A hedgehog house is also included.

Lynne Phelps, play and therapies Lead at Tŷ Hafan said: “We’re delighted to have been selected to represent Wales in receiving this Nature Month gift from Playforce. Our mini-beast habitat has arrived and it has been put up in our gardens. The children have already started looking for bugs and creepy crawlies!”

Tŷ Hafan was nominated by national charity, Together for Short Lives, following its 2018 Children’s Hospice Week.

Together for Short Lives is the UK charity for seriously ill children living with life-limiting or terminal conditions that cannot be cured.
