Man, 19, ‘stabbed’ in Porth­cawl

A 19-YEAR-OLD man is in hos­pi­tal af­ter he was al­legedly stabbed in Porth­cawl.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 13 near Porth­cawl Li­brary on Church Place.

The emer­gency services said they were called at around 10.20pm to re­ports of a stab­bing and a man was taken to the Princess of Wales Hos­pi­tal in Brid­gend, where he is re­cov­er­ing from his in­juries.

Po­lice said the man’s in­juries are not be­lieved to be life-threat­en­ing.

A 19-year-old man has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of as­sault and is cur­rently in po­lice cus­tody.

A sec­tion of Church Place re­mains cor­doned off while po­lice carry out in­quiries.

South Wales Po­lice said: “A 19-year-old man has been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of as­sault af­ter an in­ci­dent on Church Place, Porth­cawl.

“We were called shortly af­ter 10.20pm on Thurs­day. The Welsh Am­bu­lance Ser­vice also at­tended.

“The 19-year-old who was ar­rested is cur­rently in po­lice cus­tody.”

Po­lice are now ap­peal­ing for any­one who wit­nessed the in­ci­dent to call them on 101, quot­ing ref­er­ence 1800350143, or call Crimestop­pers anony­mously on 0800 555 111.
