Celsa Steel seeks 33 apprentices at Cardiff operation
CELSA Steel has launched its latest and biggest ever apprenticeship recrutiment round.
The Catalan-owned recycled steel specialist is looking to train the next generation of highskilled manufacturing workers at its operation in Cardiff.
This will see 33 apprentices taken on this year at its East Moors Road plant, providing a route into skilled manufacturing jobs, as well as a new range of office-based apprenticeships.
Apprentices will start on salaries of £11,000 while training and can expect to earn around £27,000 witin two to four years, depending on the type of apprenticeship.
Celsa’s apprenticeship programme began in 2005.
Apprenticeship opportunities have traditionally been offered in production, mechanical and electrical engineering, welding and fabrication, machining, roll-turning and quality-control roles
The new expanded programme will now include office-based roles, with specialisms such as IT, logistics, human resources, and digital marketing and design,

Jordan O’Connell, an apprentice with Celsa Steel, said: “What I love most about my apprenticeship at Celsa is that every day is different.
“The work is constantly challenging and rewarding, and I feel I am always expanding my skills and knowledge.
“The steel industry has been in the news a lot recently, but Celsa have shown me the success that a dynamic and committed employer can achieve in the global marketplace.”

Celsa currently has a workforce of 865.
