Fireman knocked off bike and ‘left for dead’
A FIREMAN was knocked off his bike and “left for dead” when he was hit by a car on a roundabout.
Justin Hill, 54, from Waunarlwydd, was cycling through Llanelli when a car hit him off his bike and he fell onto the bonnet of the car before landing “on the road on his head”.
Mr Hill has been left with concussion and cannot currently work as a result of the incident.
His sister-in-law, Emma Hill, said: “He was out training, as he’s a fireman he’s got to keep fit, so he regularly cycles long distances.
“He was on the Llanelli link road on a roundabout and he was hit by a car. It wasn’t exiting, he was hit as they were going around the side of the roundabout.
“He went onto the bonnet, he remembers being on the car and then landing on the road on his head. Then he remembers lying on the road, flat out, totally still and thinking that he should move but that he couldn’t as he was on a roundabout.
“The driver just kept going.”
Other cyclists and drivers stopped to help Mr Hill, who works as a fireman in Swansea, and called the police, who later took him to Prince Philip Hospital to have X-rays.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “The driver failed to stop.
“Officers are investigating and anyone with information is asked to report it by calling 101.”
