HOW JUSTICE WAS SERVED ON DRIVERS

-

LIAM Price, 23, formerly of Maes y Ysgol, Pontardawe, but now of Western Avenue, Sandfields, Port Talbot, had previously pleaded guilty to causing Miss Kennedy’s death by dangerous driving, but Cory Kedward, also 23, formerly of Ynyswen, Penycae in the upper Swansea Valley, but now of Gelligaled Road, Ystrad in the Rhondda Valley, had denied the same charge. He said he had not been involved in any racing, but was convicted following a trial.

Sending them both down, a judge said a message had to go out to young male motorists who put people at risk through their driving that they could expect considerable prison sentences.

Kedward was sentenced to seven years in prison, while Price was given six years and four months in jail. Each will serve half that time in custody, and will be banned from driving for five years from the halfway point of the sentences.
