High winds forecast for weekend

-

PEOPLE out for their work party or Christmas shopping are set for a blustery weekend.

According to the Met Office the next two days are set to be the coldest but as temperatures get slightly warmer into the weekend Wales is set for a very blustery weekend.

There is even a possibility for a bit of the white stuff.

A Met Office meteorologist said: “The theme for Wednesday and Thursday will be bright!

“The coldest days will be Thursday and Friday where the highest temperatures will be 5-6C.

“Over night is could drop as low as -2C.”

This cold weather will however make way for far more unsettled weather. From Friday night and over the weekend there is more uncertainty,” said a Met Office spokeswoman.

“On Friday evening a weather system pushes in from the west.

“As that weather front meets the cooler air it could bring some snow in the north of England.

“This could also affect be in north and south Wales but will only be on hills and mountains.

“The snow is unlikely to settle because the temperature will actually be milder as we go into the weekend.

“We have no warnings in place at the moment because it is too far off to give accurate times and places.

“It is important to consider the wind that is expected to be be very strong over the weekend. Winds could be gales around the coasts reaching 60-70 mph in some areas.

“At the moment we can’t give more details but our message would be keep an eye on the forecasts.”
