ABRIDE-TO-BE cried tears of joy after her missing wedding dress was found among a pile of 20,000 gowns in a warehouse.

Meg Stamp, 27, paid £1,300 for the beautiful ivory lace dress but it was seized by liquidators after a bridal company went bust.

It was boxed up along with 20,000 others and due to be sold for a knock-down price at auction.

But determined Meg banged on the auctioneer’s door saying: “I want my dress back”.

Staff at John Pye auctioneers in Port Talbot spent three hours sifting through boxes until they finally found Meg’s dream dress.

Company manager Meg said: “They were absolutely amazing, I never thought I’d see it again.

“It was unique and made to measure for me so it was the only one I wanted.

“The staff had to wade through literally thousands of wedding dresses until they found the right one.”

Optimistic Meg drove 200 miles to rescue the dress after it was shipped to South Wales to be sold off.

It is now safely under wraps at her home in Derby ready for her wedding to technical support engineer Callum Rodgers, 28, next May.

Meg said: “I was sobbing when they found the dressing and some of the warehouser staff were in tears too.

“They were in a difficult position but they were so lovely and empathetic, it was overwhelming.”

Meg bought the warehouse workers a Christmas drink for reuniting her with her “stunning” dress.

Auctioneers John Pye was given 20,000 gowns to value and sell after high street retailer Berketex Bride went into administration in November.

The South Wales company was told all brides who had paid for their dresses had collected them.

But office manager Jo Williams, said a number of brides have been in touch to reclaim their pre-paid dresses.

Jo, 46, said: “We are doing all we can to reunite them with their wedding gowns. We understand they’ve invested a lot of emotion into choosing their dress for their big day.
