Drug dealers arrested trying to flee police

-

A DRUG DEALER was Tasered as he tried to flee police, who found more than £7,000 worth of Class A drugs in the car he was driving.

Saed Saeed and his friend Fouad Cilmi, who had links to Bristol, were caught supplying heroin and cocaine in the Valleys as part of a “County Lines” operation.

Sentencing them at Cardiff Crown Court, Judge Neil Bidder QC said they were motivated by “greed”.

The court heard the pair, who were in a hired Vauxhall Astra, were stopped by police in Beddau, near Llantrisant, on August 8.

Ieuan Bennett, prosecuting, said: “The defendants were effectively operating a mobile drugdealing operation.”

The court heard they sent blank text messages to 62 users to announce they had arrived in the area, focusing on Pontypridd.

When police signalled for driver Saeed to stop the car, Cilmi got out of the passenger seat and ran off.

Prosecutors said Saeed followed him, taking the so-called “dirty” (drug-dealing) phone with him.

Mr Bennett told the court: “Officers had to deploy a Taser to stop him running away.”

Police caught up with him and found the phone next to him, along with £1,570 in cash.

Mr Bennett said Cilmi was arrested after a “short chase” and was found to have £1,290 in cash.

Police searched the car and found crack cocaine with a street value of £220 and heroin with a street value of £7,460.

Saeed and Cilmi, both 29, who are in HM Prison Cardiff, admitted possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply. Saeed was jailed for three years and Cilmi for four years and six months.

There will be a Proceeds of Crime Act hearing on February 12.
