Dad won’t sell home after target is hit

-

A YOUNG girl who was diagnosed with severe scoliosis will now be able to have a vital spinal procedure after kind strangers donated £27,000 in just two days.

Ffion Jones’s family were left devastated after the 13-year-old’s diagnosis two months ago.

Her dad, Jonathan Jones, was even planning on selling his house and his car to pay for the vital operation after the family were told that the current NHS waiting list to have the operation was nearly two years.

Mr Jones, from Penlan in Swansea, launched a fundraising campaign to raise money for the operation which included a JustGiving page.

The family have been left speechless after generous strangers donated £27,000 in two days. Their aim was to raise the money by April.

One person who got behind the 42-year-old’s campaign was comedian Jason Manford.

The funnyman posted on Facebook: “Read this story after it was sent to me lots about a Welsh father feeling he is forced to sell his house to pay for his daughter’s operation. Unbelievable.”

Mr Jones added: “The support from Jason Manford has been incredible. We also had a donation from Michael Sheen.

“I can’t believe we did it, I am so grateful to everyone who donated, thank you so much.”
