Kennedy arrives as signing No.5 for the Dragons
WREXHAM have signed defender Kieran Kennedy on a permanent deal until the end of the season.
Kennedy was most recently with Shrewsbury Town in League One, signing last June for an undisclosed fee from Macclesfield Town.
The 2017-18 season saw the 25-year-old win the National League with 35 appearances at the heart of the Silkmen’s defence.
The Manchester-born player featured in both games against the Dragons last season.
He started off his career in Manchester City’s youth set-up before transferring to Leicester City and made his first senior appearance for Motherwell in the SPL before a move to AFC Fylde in 2017.
Kennedy put pen to paper at the Racecourse yesterday after complet- ing a medical. The club have submitted the necessary paperwork and applied for international clearance with a view to him being available for the FA Trophy tie with Leyton Orient tomorrow.
He becomes Wrexham’s fifth signing of the month following Bobby Grant, who has signed a deal until the end of the season, Jason Oswell, Cole Stockton and Brad Walker, who has rejoined on loan from new club Shrewsbury.
Manager Graham Barrow said: “Kieran won the league with Macclesfield, is a good age and is a very good defender.
“Shaun Pearson and Jake Lawlor have played a lot of games in a short space of time and, with Manny Smith and Doug Tharme out at the moment, Kieran joining is excellent news.”
