An occasional smack will do no harm
SOME common sense from Jack Kearns (“How did smacking affect your behaviour?”, WM letters, January 12).
While not at all condoning physical abuse, I agree a smack on the bottom in early years does wonders for subsequent behaviour. We are fortunate to have well balanced, polite and successful children and grandchildren all of whom have had the occasional smack when appropriate and it has done them no harm.
