How they rated

ERWIN MULDER

Was a mere spectator for long periods before making a routine save to deny Tom Clarke after the half-hour mark. Fortunate not to be punished after fumbling Brad Potts’s shot soon after, but made a wonderful double save late on.

KYLE NAUGHTON

Was able to play high up the pitch as Preston caused few problems up front and had the freedom of Lancashire on the right flank at times.

MIKE VAN DER HOORN

Solid at the back once again and had little to worry about when it came to dealing with the long balls that came his way. Booked for protesting against the penalty, though, and was somewhat shaky as Swansea had a wobble after Preston’s equaliser.

JOE RODON

A calming influence at the back, and in truth, will have significantly tougher afternoons this season. Brilliant lunging tackle to deny replacement Sean Maguire late on in the second half.

CONNOR ROBERTS

Had a tough job on his hands on the left but dealt relatively well with Preston’s aerial threat and always offered himself higher up the pitch too. Excellent challenge to thwart Alan Browne, but was adjudged to have handled the ball which allowed Preston to equalise from the spot.

LEROY FER

Won his fair share of aerial duels and played a pivotal role in nullifying Preston’s direct approach. Booked after the half-time whistle for protesting with referee Keith Stroud and frustration got the better of him a few times.

MATT GRIMES

Composed figure alongside Fer once again and produced some decent deliveries from set-pieces, although they yielded no rewards.

NATHAN DYER

His desire to get on the ball was admirable, although he was unable to do much damage at the business end of the pitch. Replaced in the second half.

BERSANT CELINA

Grew in confidence as the first half wore on and forced Declan Rudd into a smart save five minutes before the break. Gave Courtney Baker-Richardson the simple task of lashing home in the second half.

COURTNEY BAKER-RICHARDSON

Was very isolated up front and got little change from the Preston defence. Half an opening in the fourth minute was about as good as it got for the forward. But was on hand to smash home the opener before being replaced soon after. Also booked for kicking the ball away.
