Teen in court over stabbing at shop
A TEENAGER has appeared in court in connection with a stabbing near a Cardiff chicken shop.
The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, denied causing grievous bodily harm, violent disorder, and being in possession of a bladed article.
The charges relate to an incident near takeaway shop Chicken.Com in City Road, Roath, on February 7.
A 17-year-old boy was treated for stab wounds at the University Hospital of Wales. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
During a 10-minute hearing at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court yesterday, the teenager spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth, and address and to deny the charges.
Deena Beynon, prosecuting, said no-one else has been charged in connection with the incident.
Sitting as a Youth Court judge, district judge Bodfan Jenkins remanded the defendant in a youth detention centre. He will appear at Cardiff Crown Court on March 11.
