Grab a picnic blanket and enjoy some alfresco screenings around Wales
WITH spring just around the corner, it’s not long until outdoor events start making a comeback.
Open air cinemas are the perfect opportunity to enjoy a good film, even if it’s raining, and many are held at picturesque spots around the country.
Here’s a list of some of the events that have already been planned for 2019.
TREDEGAR
The Grade II listed Bedwelty House and Park in Tredegar is set to show two hugely popular films this year.
The first will be taking place on Friday, April 26 when visitors can enjoy Bohemian Rhapsody.
The Queen tribute has been a box office hit and has also won critical acclaim, with Rami Malik receiving a the Best Leading Actor award at this month’s Baftas for his role as Freddie Mercury.
Getting underway at 6.30pm, the film will begin at around 8.30pm.
Then on Saturday, April 27 there will be a screening of The Greatest Showman from 6.30pm.
Starring Hugh Jackman, the film has enjoyed global success with the soundtrack topping the charts.
Food snacks and a bar will all be available at both events and there will also be music before the films start.
Visitors are also advised to bring a blanket or camping chair to enjoy the films under the stars.

NEWPORT
The Greatest Showman is also being screened in the great outdoors at St Julians in Newport.
Taking place on Friday, May 31 from 7pm to 11pm, tickets start from £14 plus booking fees and VIP tickets are £30.
There will be pillows and blankets to hire out.
This event will go ahead in rain or shine, so be prepared for all weather conditions. Only in high winds and heavy rain will it be rescheduled.

CARMARTHENSHIRE
The outdoor cinema is returning to the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire this year with a screening of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets .
