Wilson must move on from Liverpool, insists Murphy

-

WALES and Liverpool talent Harry Wilson is not going to get ahead of some of the best players in the world at Anfield and must move on, according to former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy.

Wilson, 22, has returned to Liverpool for pre-season after an impressive run on loan with Derby County last term, where he scored 18 goals in 49 appearances.

The winger has travelled to America for Liverpool’s week-long tour as part of a 28-man squad, but it remains to be seen whether Wilson is a part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the upcoming season.

While there are fans who would love for him to feature, others believe he would benefit with more regular game time elsewhere, and one of those is Murphy.

“I can’t see Wilson getting the playing time he wants at Liverpool and it’s probably time for him to move on,” Murphy told bwin.com.

“He’s a talented player, but he’s competing for a place against some of the best players in the world and he’s not going to get in front of them.

“I think he’s good enough to make it in the Premier League, but he’s not got the physicality to play at the very top level.

“Players need a mix of talent and athleticism to get into the top teams and I don’t think he possesses both.

“He clearly has the talent and I wouldn’t be surprised if another Premier League team snapped him up.”

Meanwhile, Derby have contacted Liverpool about Wilson’s availability on loan after his successful spell last season, DerbyshireLive reports.

Sevilla have emerged as the favourites to land Wilson, with Sky Bet having them down at 5/2, with previous favourites Aston Villa behind at 11/4, Bournemouth at 8/1 and Leicester at 10/1.
