Fantastic stand-up is right on your doorstep

I SEE in the Western Mail from time to time letters complaining that there isn’t enough live stand-up comedy in Swansea.

I feel that live comedy shows are ignored by the masses in Swansea unless there is a “TV name” on the bill.

People tend to be apathetic and do not realise the amazing comic talent that’s out there, working the clubs of Britain week in, week out.

It may be of interest to those readers that this Saturday night, July 27, at 8pm, in Cafe Play, Newton Street, Mumbles, there is a stand-up comedy show featuring Mark Maier. Maier recently won acclaim as the recipient of the biggest cash prize in Britain for comedy performance.

Though he is not a major TV star he did win £10,001 at the Petfringe Comedian of the Year, a couple of months ago, fighting off stiff competition from tens of others. This was an amazing feat.
