ACHILDREN’S home official made sexual advances to fellow staff – and boasted: “I can turn any woman gay”, a hearing was told.

Sian Moses, 38, allegedly touched the breast and backside of a fellow youth worker at the children’s home for vulnerable teenagers.

She is accused of acting unprofessionally by discussing her sex life while on duty – including her use of sex toys.

An Education Workforce Council hearing heard youth support worker Moses is also accused of attempting to kiss her co-worker and placing her hand between her legs.

Presenting officer Cadi Dewi told how the alleged victim, known as Colleague A, protested at the sexual advances made by Moses at the residential care home for vulnerable young people.

Miss Dewi said: “Concerns were raised by Colleague A that Moses had acted inappropriately towards her and had made sexual advances towards her at work. During the investigation, further concerns were raised that Moses had made sexual comments and would openly discuss her sex life.”

The pair work at Ty Ni children’s home in Caerphilly with children aged 13-17 with the “aim to provide a positive, stable environment that enables the young people to feel valued and safe”.

Colleague A said she was employed at Ty Ni for three to four months – but left her role because of Moses.

She said: “Moses began making inappropriate comments towards me like ‘I could have you if I wanted you’ and ‘I can turn any woman gay’.

“She would say she had a lot of girls fighting over her to sleep with her. I didn’t react, I left it because I didn’t want to play to her ego.”

But Colleague A said there soon came a time when Moses’ behaviour towards her “crossed the line”.

She said: “On one occasion she said she had masturbated while thinking of me. She was aware that I was married and in a relationship.

“She told me, ‘You need a distraction, I can be that distraction’ and ‘you’ll need a safe word by the time I’m finished with you’.”

Colleague A said she tried to avoid Moses on shifts they worked together “as best as I could”.

She also told the hearing that Moses “squeezed her left breast” and then her bottom as she tried to leave.

She added: “I was scared as I didn’t think people would believe me because I’d not been working long at the home. I felt very down and could not understand why she was acting in that way.”

Giving evidence at the hearing, care home worker Kerry Woodward said: “A lot of her comments were inappropriate. I felt that when she made those comments that they were made to illicit a response but I only took it as banter.”

Miss Woodward said she was approached by Colleague A, who revealed Moses’ alleged advances.

She said: “She said she was dealing with a difficult situation with Moses and she had concerns about how Moses was behaving towards her.

“Moses was making her feel increasingly uncomfortable and that her behaviour was going too far.”

Moses argues that the roles were reversed and that it was Colleague A who made the advances towards her.

She denies unacceptable professional conduct and the hearing in Cardiff continues.
