Oil 4 Wales takes over rival’s operation to improve logistics

-

OIL 4 Wales has expanded with the acquisition of the Llantrisant operation of a rival fuel supplier.

The Pembrokeshire-based company paid £1.7m for Thomas Silvey in a bid to improve its logistics and efficiency in the Cardiff region.

The deal included the depot’s freehold, five trucks, and the use of its customer base.

“Thomas Silvey is a company which holds the same values as us,” said Oil 4 Wales owner Colin Owens.

“They are an English company, but they have also been in Wales for a very long time.

“They decided that with the current oversupply of the market, they wanted to focus their attention on other areas but also ensure their company ethos would be carried on and their customers would be looked after. They therefore approached us to see if we would be interested in the acquisition. We were more than happy to do so.”

Oil 4 Wales has a number of fuel depots throughout Wales and offers products to both businesses and home owners. They include home heating, business and agricultural contracts, franchise opportunities, fuel cards, tank supplying, and boiler maintenance services.

Oil 4 Wales’ new Llantrisant operation is seen by Mr Owens as a vital purchase given its location close to the M4 and on the outskirts of Cardiff.

“The new Llantrisant depot is great for our operation. It will improve our logistics and efficiency and help us avoid the heavy congestion of Cardiff,”

he said.

“We will also have control of our own product having the ability to store 300,000 litres of fuel at the depot. There will also be the truck stop selling gasoil, kerosene and diesel which gives us the opportunity to supply the local commercial markets.

“Under Thomas Silvey, Llantrisant was a 15 to 20 million litre-a-year business serviced by five tankers and we hope to be able to help those numbers to grow.

“Oil 4 Wales’ mantra is to be Wales’ national fuel supplier and to service the people of our great country and that will never change.”
